Fun in the sun (kind of)

For some, this year's good old 'British summer' has provided plentiful opportunities to get out and about in their kayaks. Indeed it appears to be becoming somewhat of a regular feature of our little island, and while most moan and groan about the weather, the paddlers amongst us revel over it.
Despite not being able to make the most of the frequent downpours for one reason or another, I did manage to pay a visit to the Mellte during a rare period of sunshine, allbeit without a boat. Nevertheless, the river never dissappoints and still provided a good afternoon's entertainment. In fact, to those who know the river during winter months, it is somewhat of a novelty to be able to scramble along and under the waterfalls usually covered in water.

The first post!

Having spent a good few months of my life buried under books in the Swansea uni library, endured a summer that thinks it's winter, and preparing to start a year of yet more studying at Cardiff, now seems appropriate to reminisce about better times!

So here are a few of the highlights of New Zealand 2005:

First day on the river, Kaituna

Battling it out at the Teva Wairoa Extreme Race

Maruia Falls

About to break a pair of paddles on the Arahura
